Wildwood Park for the Arts is currently accepting applications from college-age students interested in weeklong and multi-week internship opportunities at the Wildwood Academy of Music and the Arts (WAMA). This is an excellent opportunity for students studying music education, music, or general education. Interns will have the opportunity to work with and observe professionals educators in action, form professional relationships with faculty members, and may even have a chance to perform for students, faculty, and the public. What do interns do?
Internship responsibilities may include:
  • Acting as primary contact to students throughout the day
  • Assisting with student registration, morning drop off, and afternoon pick up
  • Supervising lunch breaks and snack times
  • Providing classroom supervision as needed, utilizing classroom management skills to assist the faculty throughout classes
  • Accompanying WAMA students during transitions from class to class
  • Performing administrative duties, including, making copies, filing paperwork, etc.
  • Assisting with public performances by students, faculty, and guest artists
  • Maintaining classroom and performance areas, lunch/snack, and other areas where WAMA students, faculty, and interns may congregate

Additional responsibilities (dependent on applicant’s skills) may include:
  • Short performances for students, parents, and faculty
  • Leading sectionals and assisting with small ensemble coaching
  • Providing piano accompaniment
  • Playing or singing alongside WAMA students throughout rehearsals and performances
  • Leading games and activities that encourage team building
Additional responsibilities for Residential Interns July 2-13, 2018:
  • Mediate any problems between students
  • Be available for check in and check out at the dorms
  • Ensure all students follow the rules and make curfew as outlined in the WAMA Handbook
  • Communicate with the Residential Student Leader, Educational Programs Coordinator, and Wildwood’s Executive Director
  • Be available to help pick up and deliver/facilitate mealtime
  • Transport students (using Wildwood’s van) to and from Wildwood and any other outings that require transportation
  • Act as a chaperone for any outings, including WAMA performances and practice times, evening recreation, and off-site meals
