Arts on Tour Statewide Educational Production
Each year Wildwood Park takes a fully staged professional play to elementary schools across the state. Our original productions come to your school or community theatre ready to go with entertaining and distinct arts education content. A comprehensive packet of activities, worksheets, discussion topics, and evaluation forms is also provided for teachers in advance of the production. Wildwood greatly depends on school feedback to inform future programming and productions.
The Arts on Tour Production for 2012 was Lily and the Apple Seed, written by Arkansas teaching artist, April Gentry-Sutterfield. With one in three American children overweight, Wildwood Park for the Arts’ Lily and the Apple Seed provided a safe and fun tool for educators to encourage healthy eating and active living. The play also highlighted themes of respect for elders and the environment, and making new friends.
This educational tour for kindergarten through 5th graders addressed Nutrition and Personal Health and Safety standards on the Health and Wellness strand of the Arkansas K-8 Physical Education and Health Curriculum Frameworks.
